Tour of the Latemar

A classic trail for MTB lovers in the South Tyrol is the one around Latemar. This route takes you through a spectacular scenery of the Dolomites, offering impressive viewsof the landscape between Val di Fiemme e Val d’ Ega. It is a road suitable both for the less physically fit, if using Latemar’s lifts and for the experts if relying only on your own forces.
This route is worth it, because it offers breathtaking views from the Passo Pampeago and the Passo Costalunga  in addition to the view of Lake Carezza at the foot of the Latemar group.

The tour information
The starting point is Panchià and after 7 km of almost flat trail we reach the Ski jumping stadium of Predazzo. Here we climb easily to passo Feudo using the ski lift of the Ski Center Latemar. From a ski slope we change to a gravel road that leads to Passo Pampeago and subsequently to the location of Obereggen.
The following section of the trail leads through wide meadows and into the forest,and we reach without much effort the Carezza Lake in a stunning location at the foot of the Latemar group, clearly visible in the background. After a well-deserved break, we take the forest path to the Passo Costalunga where we stop for a lunchbreak.Now we literally dive towards Moena di Fassa and from there, on the bike path slightly downhill, reach Predazzo and Panchia.
Variation:
Those, who are looking for a challenge, might not want to use the ski lift. Take the paved path uphill from Tesero to the Passo Pampeago instead, which once was a part of Giro d’Italia, and from there on follow the road described above.
